The Montgomery, AL United Gymstars and Cheer Level 2 gymnastics competitive team, competes in the Veteran’s Day Classic competition located in Pelham, Alabama Saturday November 12, 2016. United Gymstars competed against 3 other gymnastics team located in Alabama. Those teams were Mountain Brook gymnastics from Birmingham Alabama, ACE Gadsden gymnastics from Rainbow City, Alabama and Kidnastics gymnastics from Huntsville, Alabama.
The girls practice 3 days out of the week with head coach Bj, Brandi and Stanley to prepare for the competition. The Veterans Day Classic Competition was in honor of the men and women who served the country. Each team had to compete in all four events at the competition. Each event the girls were scored individually and also as a team.
“It’s a process, it’s not something you learn overnight, it’s not something you learn in a year. It takes lot of dedication from the Parents, Coaches, and kids,” stated Coach Bj.
United Gymstars Level 2 Team came in second place at the Veteran’s Day Classic. United Gymstars and Cheer male gymnast Will Wilson, competed in the Jr Olympics on May 6th 2016. Charlie Walter news Journalist from WSFA News stated, “The Montgomery native is now working towards one day representing the United States in the Olympics. There’s a reason for Wilson to have high expectations; he’s incredibly gifted. Will Trains at United Gymstars and Cheer and has just recently qualified for the Junior Olympic Nationals.” The team final event for the year will be the State meet, where they will compete against every Gymnasts from the State of Alabama.
“This is probably one of the most demanded sports in the world because it never stops. Baseball has an off season, football, basketball, and all those other sports has an off season. Gymnastics never stops and when we’re not competing is when we’re working the hardest,” stated Coach Bj.
